Paranormal Palma Loma, 11.14.16

So hey guys,
This week went really well, it was kinda crazy to tell you the truth, I cant believe that I am already here.
But hey fun things this week we had a lot of Ghost sightings, really Palma Loma is full of them 😎
we had a dog follow us all over our area the other day, and her name is Sam, she was pretty dirty by the time we could get her home, which just shows that hey the stuff we do everyday is hard, and it is understandable that we come home covered in mud.
I fell down today, that was fun
My last interview with President Evans , was amazing☺ no se guys I am excited and this week has flown by, just as I know these next couple of days are gonna fly

but hey love you guys thanks for all the support and love, the mission has been amazing I am excited to see you guys, good luck and see you soon

Astonishingly Fluent, 11.07.16

¡Hola Familia y Amigos!
It's been a great, HOT week here in Palma Loma.
This week we've been working a lot on extending the baptismal invitation to the people we've been following up with and prepping for the Capilla Abierta. Through the references of members and a few of our past contacts we have found new people to teach! It's always fun to meet people with questions who are ready to come unto Christ and act.
Highlight reel of the week:
So on Friday all of our lesson plans had fallen through and we thought we'd go visit Dora again to follow up on her and how her neighbors are doing. After sharing a thought with her she brought up an hermana named Amalia that soemone had mentioned last Sunday in class. She told us that she wanted to go visit her with us. We told her we'd be busy until the following week with the Capilla Abierta and a few appointments we had, so she agreed to going right then and there. Hermana Dora IS THE COOLEST. Even though she's about 75-80 years old, she, again, left her house and walked with us 10 blocks to show us where Amalia lives and to visit for a little bit. They say that a sign of conversion is your desires to share the gospel. Hermana Dora is truly converted.
Earlier in the week a youth in the ward, Henrique, told us of three houses he wanted us to pass by of his neighbors. After visiting two of the houses, we contacted the third reference and found a 12 year old kid that, after teaching a brief message about the importance of baptism, accepted the baptismal invitation and came to church and all of this weekend's church activities. His nick-name is Kiki and we're super excited to see how he progresses.
After a long, hot day, we passed by Jorgelina's house to get our laundry and she made us cold parsley juice. I was hesitant at first- but it is delicious. Parsely, sugar and cold water. Who knew? Later we expermented by mixing it with some under-ripe mango juice- even more delicious.
The Capilla Abierta was awesome. I remember last year when we did it in Juan de Salazar it was mas o menos. This time around we had a lot more success! The members got really into it and we had a few people show up and even got a new investigator from the chapel tours and we got a solid 18 new references. Woo!
Saturday morning, before the Capilla Abierta, we also had divisions and I got to go work with Hermana Santos in Laurelty again! It was fun to work with her again and we celebrated her hitting her year mark with getting a quick ice-cream after lunch :)
This email is a little long winded with lots of events- we are going to Capiata to let Hermana Douglas say goodbye and I dont have as much time to organize my thoughts.
Final funny story: While passing by a members house they had a visita with one of their nieces. She looked at us and kind of ignored us, until my companion started talking in Spanish and there is only one word to describe her face. She was ASTONISHED. She could not believe that we spoke Spanish- she said, "¿Hablan español? Yo no sabia luego" (You guys speak spanish?! I had no idea.) It made our day.
With love sent from Paraguay,
Hermana Carr

N is for No Survivors, 10.24.16

Hello everyone :)
This week was great :)
We are finding a lot of people to teach and it is really fun!!!! We had Stake conference yesterday and something that our president said that really got me crying was, that he has released a lot of missionaries and in that moment he asks them to take off the tag... now for any missionary I am sure that moment is heart breaking, but something that our mission president said int eh comference is that he always said to these missionaries that while they can not contine using the tag does not mean that they stop being missionaries... it made me really happy :) whle the mission does end it doesnt mean that we have to stop.
Well other fun stuff this week :)
We found a baby bat making his way down town... crawling fast :)
and then I am loosing my mind in a contact the other day I said -disfruta su Libertad... enjoy your Liberty... way to go Hermana Douglas she looked very confused :
But hey love you guys, I got to the dentist today wish me luck :)

This week was fun we have been working a lot on finding investidadores and have been faced with a ton of rejection, but I am excited when there is a lot of reject the blessings are gonna come, and so now we are just trying our hardest and wating for that blessing :)
A lady this week told my companion that she brings the blessings.... so :) we will see what happenes this week,
also we are planning a capilla Abierta for the 5 of Noviembre and we are super excited our wardis getting pumped about it, so no se I really hope that it turns out well in the end :)

F is for Fire that Burns Down the Whole Town, 10.10.16

Hey guys,
I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week, as most of you know we found out about changes last Tuesday, and ...... drum roll please................
I am still in Palma Loma, but this time with the one and only Hermana Carr!!!!!!!! She is from Provo Utah and is amazing :) We have had a really great couple of days so fasr and I am really happy to be with her :)
So for staters, I am sure all of you are wondering what we have been up too these days,
We found a couple of people smoking at the church and while we cant do anything about it we did take a stand and they had brought in a log so that they could sit and smoke, as a way to defy the man, we headed by the church at 8:30 at night and we took out their log, walked it across the street and threw it over the barbwire fence into a vacant lot.... :) and that is how we got rid of the smoking log, we have found less people at the church doing that now so we are happy.
Something I have learned this week has been the importance of the members :) so we were just walking to an appointment the other day and a lady came up to us, says she is from a different ward, but has been looking to a while now the missionaries that were assigned to our ward, and she gave us a reference, of the lady who house she cleans, named Mirta, she asked us to come over and meet her, so we called set up a time and we went.... she is the best person ever, she is an in-activa that has been wanting to come back, she has two children that are above the age of 8, and she loves when the missionaries pass by, so thanks to the kind member of another ward we found a family that really has potencial. SO hey for all those who listened to conference , help the missionaries out, give a reference, and look for those who surround you for someone who could possible be ready :)
Things have been getting hotter lately, really we are heading into summer..... today not so much it is pretty fresco and looks like rain, but the last couple of days.... hot humid air blowing in your face.... I am really excited for Summer :) what makes it worth it are the Chupa Chup, which are popsicles, really best use of 500 guarnies :)  This change is already going swimmingly and I am just really excited :) Everyday is an adventure, I almost walked out of the house without my backpack the other day, and oh almost forgot, a dog almost got to eat my hand :) we headed to a members house o get a reference, cause as we all know references are magical, and while we were there her dog a Germana Shepard was super nice he let me pet him and he was chill, but that all changed when the Fire nation attacked, as we were leaving I reach down to pet his head, and I hear him growl a little so I start pulling my hand back and in that moment he jumps up and bites..... luckily I had already moved my hand and was practically running a way from him, or else this dog would of gotten some real white meat to snack on :) and yeah that was my dog story of the week... kinda scared me :) but I am good
Today we went to clean the temple and It was great :) I love the temple and oh my goodness, the temple of Paraguay is beyond beautiful really it was such a blessing to be able to go and clean today :) I am excited to go there one day to be sealed for time and all eternity, really after looking in the mirrors as we were cleaning who would settle of less than a temple marriage???  But hey I love you guys and hope you all have a great week:) suerte con todo , y cuídense mucho

Hermana Douglas :)

N is for Anywhere at Anytime at All, 10/03/2016

Hey guys, this week went well high lights because hey time goes by fast
We find out about changes tomorrw, my last real change in the mission, really it is crazy and feels really weird but I am excited :)
conference was amazing, I loved it really, it is always an adventure to listen to it in Spanish but either way it is the same, languages does not change the gospel truths :)
we hung out on our roof this week, it was fun and beautiful and kinda scary but mostly fun, the town is so pretty at night :)
also I am becoming addicted to Jell-0 it is the best and I will be living off that until I get home, #goals,

hope everyone had a wonderful week, thanks for all of the support and the love I can feel your prayers :)

U is for You and Me, 9.26.16

Hey guys,
I hope all is well, and moving :)
this week went well, I am doing really good and it has been a really fun month, I am stoked for CONFERENCE!!!!!!!!!
Listening to our leaders is such a blessing, and oh my goodness, it is amazing to be able to learn and hear exactly what God need from us as His children :) Oh my goodness I am pumped up for Conference :)  !!!!! it is going to be amazing !!!!
Something I have come to learn in the mission is to love Conference, really it is one of the only times we get to hear from living profetas they are really called of God, He leads this church and thanks to the people we are going to hear this weekend we can receive direct counsel to personal problems, and revelations for our families and lives, really I am super excited :) how lucky are we to know the truth, and how important in the work of God so that others can come to learn of the same truths :)
The Gospel is amazing :)
This week I got to eat liver, super yum, and healthy for ya folks so hey give it a whirl :) also we had Piranha... yeah the fish :) it was good :) I am just so happy to have the opportunity to be her in the mission, Paraguay is AMAZING and I am learning everyday, I know that the mission has changed my life, it has changed whop I was into who God wants me to be, and I am so excited to be able to be here, helping others come unto Him:)
Does this letter seem kinda out of order, sorry, my head is all over the place :) but I am good, found out that I have a case of ring worm on my ankle... not sure how but hey it is cool :)
Anyway, hope you all have a great week :)
Cool quote from Elder Uchtdorf :)
The answer to the question “After love, then what?” can be simple and straightforward. If we truly love the Savior, we
incline our hearts to Him and then we walk in the path of
discipleship. When we love God, we will strive to keep His
commandments.8
Love,
Hermana Douglas

F is For Friends, 9.19.16

Hey all you people, I hope that everyone had a wonderful week and is doing well :)
hey sometimes we hit a point in the time we have to email where we come to realize that we have run out of time, who knew that two hours went by so fast :)
but hey this week went really well one of my favorite moments of the week
we headed to visit some members in my old area cause Lisa Gomez is leaving on her mission, so while we were there my comp was talking to her sisters and then the topic of boyfriends came up and my comp asked if they had boyfriends, best response ever... no somos pobres, meaning no were poor it was the best, made my day
Tender mercies:
Pop sickles, they are the best
Clouds, the lifeline of missionaries , gotta love um

Lomo Saltado, 9.12.16

Hey guys this week went really well, I am happy and healthy, so In some of the pictures that I sent, my companion and I made Lomo Saltado it is delicious and it is a dish from Peru, really si o si I am gonna make it for you guys, loved it :) and as always our addiction to Mbeyu it is so good, and the hermana that makes it just has a magic skill en cerio :) I also remembered how to tie a tie this week, I was really excited , I learned how in the CCM but this week I put it into practice with one of our converts, it was cool. We also had a conference with all of the Hermanas and yeah, we are gonna use pants :) it will be super weird no doubt about it but hey pants for a month, It will be cool, I will not feel like a sister missionary at all but hey trying new things is always fun :) and hey burnt my finger really bad this week making cookies, the cookies have truned on me :) (that cookies shaped like the Death Star )
